1. Who I am

mousaalraeesi.com is the portfolio website of Mousa AlRaeesi, a visual artist and photographer based in the United Arab Emirates. For the purposes of data protection law, I am the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which means I decide how and why it is used.

I handle personal information in line with the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL) and, where it applies to visitors from other countries, their local data protection laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Information I collect

Information you give me

When you use the contact form on this website, I collect your first name, last name, email address, phone number and the content of your message.

If you contact me directly by email, phone, WhatsApp, Instagram or Threads, I receive whatever information you choose to share, along with your contact details on that service.

If you buy a print, commission work or license an image, I may also collect your billing details, shipping address and the details of the order or agreement. I do not store full payment card numbers myself; payments are handled by the payment provider used for the transaction.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this site collects some technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit and the website that referred you. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies provided by the site's hosting platform, Wix (see section 7).

3. How I use your information

• To reply to your enquiries about prints, commissions, licensing, press or collaborations.

• To prepare quotes, deliver commissioned work, fulfil print orders and manage licensing agreements.

• To keep records of transactions as required by UAE law.

• To keep the website secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix technical problems.

• To understand, in general terms, how visitors use the site so I can improve it.

• To send you news about new work or exhibitions, but only if you have asked to receive it. You can opt out at any time.

I do not sell or rent your personal information, and I do not use it for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.

I only use your personal information when the law allows it. Depending on the situation, I rely on one of the following:

5. Who I share your information with

I share personal information only where necessary, and only with parties that help me run the website or complete work for you:

• Wix.com, which hosts this website and processes contact form submissions and site data on my behalf.

• Google, which provides the email service I use to correspond with you.

• Meta, if you choose to contact me through WhatsApp, Instagram or Threads.

• Print labs, framers and delivery companies, who receive only the details needed to produce and deliver your order.

• Payment providers, who process payments securely under their own terms.

• Professional advisers and authorities, such as accountants or government bodies, when required by law or to protect my legal rights.

6. International transfers

Some of the service providers above store data on servers outside the United Arab Emirates, including in the United States and Europe. When your information is transferred abroad, I rely on providers that apply recognised safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, and that offer a level of protection consistent with the PDPL.

7. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. This site uses:

• Essential cookies set by Wix so the site loads correctly, stays secure and remembers basic settings. The site cannot work properly without these.

• Analytics cookies, where enabled, that show how visitors use the site in aggregate, such as which pages are viewed most.

Where a cookie banner is shown, you can accept or decline non-essential cookies there. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although parts of the site may not work as intended if you do. Details of the cookies Wix uses are available in Wix's cookie information.

8. People in my photographs

Some of my work, particularly street and people photography, includes images of individuals in public places. I take care to photograph respectfully and in line with UAE law, and I seek consent where the law requires it, including before any commercial use of a recognisable person's image.

If you believe you appear in one of my photographs and would like it removed from this website or my social media, email me with a link to the image. I will review your request promptly and, where appropriate, remove the image.

9. How long I keep your information

I keep personal information only as long as I need it for the purpose it was collected for:

• General enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.

• Records of orders, commissions, invoices and licensing agreements are kept for as long as UAE law requires for commercial and tax records.

• Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

• Technical and analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of the hosting platform.

10. Security

This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and I use reputable service providers with their own security measures. I limit access to your information to what is needed to deal with your enquiry or order. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, so please avoid sending highly sensitive information through the contact form.

11. Your rights

Subject to the conditions set by law, you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you and how it is used.

• Ask me to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.

• Ask me to delete your information when it is no longer needed.

• Ask me to restrict how I use your information, or object to its use.

• Receive your information in a commonly used format and ask for it to be sent to another organisation.

• Withdraw your consent at any time, where I rely on consent.

To make a request, contact me using the details in section 15. I may need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and I will respond within the time allowed by law. If you are not satisfied with my response, you can complain to the UAE Data Office or, if you live elsewhere, to your local data protection authority.

12. Children

This website is not intended for children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent me their information, please contact me and I will delete it.

13. Other websites

This site links to my Instagram and Threads profiles and to other external websites. Those services have their own privacy policies, and I am not responsible for how they handle your information. I recommend reading their policies before sharing information with them.

14. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time, for example when the website or the law changes. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
